Chapter 4: HuaHuaRepairs

Novel:

“Hey, is this HuaHuaRepairs? The sign outside told me I could my computers fixed.” The elderly man said.

Ting was speechless. “Why does the store have to be called after Hua Zhao…” he mumbled, but, before he could answer the man’s question a girls voice answered him already.

He looked around and located where the voice originated from. The voice came from a girl sitting on a brand new charcoal swivel chair. Her smooth and silky hazelnut brown hair reached her shoulders and her face was smooth and white as a newborn baby. You could tell that she takes really good care of her skin.

“Yes, we fix desktops and laptops. I can ensure our quality in handling them. :)” She replied with a smile.

“Who’s she?” Ting asked Hua Zhao.

“Oh, as I said before this is a simulation. They’re not real. As to me, I was created from the system.” Hua Zhao replied to him.

“How may I help you today?” The receptionist girl kindly greeted and asked.

“I’m here because my grandson’s computer stopped working, he’s currently at school right now so I had nothing else to do but to try getting it fixed.” The man spoke slowly.

“What’s the problem with the computer?” She asked as she needed to know what’s wrong so the people doing the repair knows where to start.

“My grandson was playing with it when the computer just stopped working.” He told her.

“Alright, we’ll see what we can do with it.” She said while getting up and walked around the round desk. She walked over to the trolley and began to pull it toward Ting. “If you want to wait here, you can sit over there.” She pointed to the waiting area that had seats similar to the seats in hospital seats in addition with some soft blue sofas. The waiting area was close to the front entrance.

“Alright, I’ll wait here for the good new!” He politely voiced as he walked toward one of the sofas and sat down. “Very soft!” he thought to himself.

The beautiful receptionist pulled the trolley toward Ting. Ting was surprised because she was just too beautiful, as he held his finger to check if he has a nosebleed.

“The elderly man said that while his grandson was using the computer the computer turned off and stopped working. I hope to hear the good news.” She handed the trolley to him and quickly turned around and started to head back to the front desk.

“Wait!” Ting shouted.

“Yes, how may I help you?” The girl questioned.

“What is your name?” Ting asked.

“It’s Ying Yue.” She said with an intrigued voice. Then she happily walked and sat down ready for any customers who walk in.

“That’s a beautiful name.” Ting murmured as he pulled the trolley to the workshop at the back of the store. He the workshop had all kinds of tools. From power tools to the screwdrivers. There was a monitor that was ready to plug in to test the computer. There were multiple spare parts such as RAM sticks and all the other jazz.

Ting got to the table and picked up the desktop with both hands and placed it on the table. He opened the cover and looked inside. The desktop was really old, there was dust on almost all the parts. You could tell that the party who used it hadn’t opened it since they bought it, resulting in what he sees now.

“That’s pretty dusty.” Hua Zhao said as she walked and took a seat close to Ting and started watching Ting Wo like she was looking at a unique pearl. “You’ll see more like that later.”

“Will you be helping me this time?” Ting questioned as he felt that she hadn’t been helping out much since he’d only took apart a desktop with her help and put it back together without her.

“Yeah, since this course needs you to be able to quickly identify the problem by the end of the course.” Hua Zhao explained.

“So since the patron said that it suddenly stopped working it is most likely something with the power supply if not then the motherboard may have some problems and needs replacing. Ting said out loud. Ting previous had been imprinted with knowledge about the parts/components when he had taken apart and reconstructed the desktop, therefore he knows how each and every part in the computer works.

“Good insight. I approve of it.” Hua Zhao praised. Ting later checked more thoroughly and inspected the wiring belonging to the power supply. He saw there was nothing wrong with the wire as he pulled on the plastic pins to check if there were further problems. In the end, nothing was wrong with the power supply unit.

He plugged in the power to the desktop to check if there were any beep codes. Unfortunately, no beep codes could be heard. No lights were turned on on the motherboard, and therefore he quickly finalized that the problem laid in the motherboard. To make sure he was right, he asked for confirmation from Ms. Zhao. “The problem is with the motherboard am I right?”

“Yes, you are absolutely correct. The motherboard has worn down due to the passage of time. All things usually break down.” She gave the confirmation as Ting took out all the parts and gave them a quick brush with a soft brush that quickly picked up the dust and removed it.

Ting got a new motherboard that was compatible with the other parts, and with the power supply. He quickly and carefully put the new motherboard. Afterwards, he put the other parts back and connected them to where they should go. He connected the monitor’s VGA cable to the desktop and pressed the power button. After a moment or two, the monitor quickly displayed a Windows XP loading screen.

Afterward, the sign-in screen was shown, Ting knew that he was successful in repairing the computer. He carefully put the cover back on and lifted the desktop tower and placed it back on the trolley.

He walked towards the front of the store when the reception desk was while pulling the trolley with him. “It’s all fixed! The motherboard was old so I replaced it. ” Ting exclaimed excitedly as it was a new experience for him.

“Oh great, that was really quick! It has only been about 20 minutes.” Ying Yue was happy that the elder did not need to wait that long. “Hey, elder it’s done. It’s all fixed now!” She had a smile on her face as she waved him over.

“Oh, it’s fixed? That was quick. So how much is the price?” He asked.

“It will come to a total of 450 yuan.” Ying Yue politely told him.

“Here you go.” The elderly man gave her the amount due. The bell sounded as he walked out through the entrance with the trolley following him.

“Congratulations on your first customer Ting!” Hua Zhao applauded him. On the wall at the workshop at the back, there was a counter for his current objective. Right now it updated and under the desktops fixed was a 1 instead of a 0.

A few minutes later the bell could be heard as Ting got his second customer.

For the next sixteen hours, Ting had been tempering his computer repair skills to the maximum. He had concentrated on every computer he got and finds the problem.

The system would also usually grace him more experience for computer repair and in turn, Ting Wo’s computer repair skills gradually improved to a point where most computer repairmen on Earth couldn’t compare to him.
